Internal Or External Drive For Your PC – external drives
You have chosen all the necessary options for your personal computer and you should be satisfied with the choices you made however have you ever considered that someone else might not be so satisfied with your own configuration especially when we are talking about internal or external DVD drives.
To make it clear internal CD or DVD drives use the EIDE, SATA or SCSI interfaces and are located from the beginning inside your personal computer’s case as a first design and are susceptible to dust and overheating.
External CD or DVD drives are very convenient if you have a SCSI, USB 2.0 slot or Fire Wire. This option is generally better for laptops that are lacking an internal drive and it gives you the freedom of carrying around with you and insert the drives whenever you feel the need to do so.
It is a good option however when you choose to take the drive out from your personal computer and then carry it around so that you can attach it to your laptop, get the job dine and then bring it back home to your personal computer.
The external drive also presents the advantage of eliminating much of the heat inside that is generated by the laser that reads the information. The downside would be that it is a bit more expensive due to the need of an external independent case, the individual power supply and the external cable that provides power to the machine.
The best thing to do is remember when you were involved in a situation where an internal or external drive would have literally saved your life and then ponder if you should buy that product or not. What if you are in a business meeting and someone tells you they want to present you their plan for the next three years and he need your external drive to write the information on a DVD, or what if you are home and your boss sends you some papers to write on a DVD and you have an internal drive however it is not working anymore and you have no back up DVD drive.
However at the end of the day if you choose to go for an internal or external DVD drive it purely depends on what needs you have and if you consider that it is a worthy investment for your own features.
